Volunteer opportunity at HAAYA Girls group

About the opportunity

To encourage, inspire and support the personal development of girls and young women from disadvantaged and disengaged backgrounds ages 11 to 18 years old through the development and delivery of a personal, educational and social development programmes of activities, which engages, empower and help young people to redress inequalities, value opinions and empower individuals to take action on issues affecting their lives, including health, education, unemployment and the environment, by developing positive skills and attitudes.

What happens at the Girls Club 

Activities during sessions include: Open Discussions on Family, Friendships, Education, Food and Healthy Living, CV Advice and Guidance and more. Creative Activities such as Origami, Arts and Crafts, T-shirt painting, Jewellery making and more. Other Activities include Cooking, Hair and Beauty, Film night, Netball, Music, Dodgeball and more. Volunteers will be asked to engage with young people during such tasks and/or supervise young people whilst they partake in tasks.

Time and Date

Sessions run every Tuesday and start at 5pm and end at 7pm however volunteers are expected to arrive at 4.45pm to help set up and leave at 7.15 pm to debrief and pack away.

What are they looking for?

We would like volunteers to have some experience in volunteering/working with young people however it is not compulsory.
