HAAYA: A VCSO Youth Charity

HAAYA offers diverse programs fostering community well-being, from education to sports. Addressing challenges like NEET to EET transition, racial tensions and health concerns.

To provide excellent support services tailored to address local needs, where people are empowered towards social and personal change. To promote, support and develop children and young people, particularly those who are the most disengaged and disadvantages.

The organization aims to support the personal growth of children and young individuals, providing opportunities for them to reach their full potential, particularly those facing vulnerability and disadvantage. Through a variety of cross-cultural activities, both educational and recreational.

Our core values guide us, inspiring positive change in individuals and communities. We aim to be role models, transparent, and accountable in all we do. With enthusiasm, we make engagement enjoyable while upholding professionalism and respecting confidentiality

Our aim is to begin demolition and construction of the new centre in 2017, the estimated cost is £750,000. We urgently need the financial support of the community to begin planning this process. Suhel Miah Staff
Suhel, a founding member of Haaya and local businessman, has over 20 years of experience in professional youth work and community development. He's served in various voluntary sector organisations, including Hounslow Youth Services, and is a trustee of the Hounslow Muslim Centre.

Temoor Khan Trustee
Temoor Khan, an Accounting & Finance graduate, completed his training at a Big Four firm, gaining professional qualifications. Active in community projects, he serves as trustee at Ashford & Staines Community Centre while working in the financial services sector.

Danielle Hutchinson Trustee
Danielle Hutchinson, a Detached Youth Worker for London Borough of Hounslow, holds a BA in Applied Social Science, Community Development, and Youth Work from Goldsmiths University. Having volunteered with HAAYA during her degree, she now serves as a trustee.

How did you hear about HAAYA?

I heard about HAAYA through the graduate challenge I was on. We had people from Hillingdon Association of Voluntary Services (HAVS) who came in and discussed placements available for volunteering. Haaya seemed really interesting to me because it offers help and advice for young under privileged people in their community.”

How has HAAYA helped you?

“HAAYA helped me gain experience, apply the skills I learnt and most of all, it helped me gain confidence!”

What were you doing before you joined HAAYA?

Before joining HAAYA, I was doing the graduate challenge, which works closely with HAAYA in providing placements for graduates looking to volunteer.”

What are you up to now? What are you currently working on?

We am still working with HAAYA on one of their public exhibitions

What advice would you give to a young person today?

Step out of your comfort zone, trying new things can seem scary – but take risks because without them, you can’t really grow.

Which of HAAYA’s activities were you involved in?

“I was involved in one of HAAYA’s projects around design propositions for the new centre. I took part in the public consultation and writing reports.

What did you like about HAAYA?

I liked the fact that HAAYA caters to the needs of the Hounslow community and want to help the young people in that community reach their full potential
